Testing season is hard enough for any elementary school student, let alone those trying to work on empty stomachs. While we cannot take the tests for them, our “30 Acts of Giving” campaign did donate nutritious snacks, and peppermints to help with testing for the students at Central  Elementary School in Allentown.  We hope the mints help the students to focus, and the snacks give them the energy they need to do well on the PSSAs.

Central Elementary is part of the Allentown School District, which is the third largest urban school system in Pennsylvania.  89.1% of Central families are denoted as Low Income, and 100% receive Free/Reduced Lunch.  The school district as a whole serves a community with a “poverty rate of 38.64% of the City’s population.”

As part of FLB’s 30th Anniversary, we decided to give back to the community that has helped us through the years. Our “30 Acts of Giving” campaign entailed collecting donations for and volunteering our time at 30 local charitable organizations.
